Making BUTT-CANS of course!

Another creative idea of Vincent Yuen, founder of the new (and long overdue) Refuse Refuse* dedicated to interesting those of us who love San Francisco to also love keeping it clean.

Turns out the biggest refuse (ie, trash) offender is still cigarette butts.  Even in 'non-smoking' San Francisco.  So Yuen has come up with an artistic idea - ala Andy Warhol - to encourage smokers to enjoy using butt-cans instead of the street, sidewalk, steps, parking lots or ______ (fill in any other places you've noticed cigarette butts).

Next comes spraying the labels with a waterproofing compound, partially filling the cans with sand and distributing them all over the city.  People are welcome to adopt them, take them home if they want to use them there; Refuse Refuse has hundreds more, thanks to individuals, restaurants, grocery stores and other Refuse Refuse enthusiasts.

A very grown up animated movie-documentary.  Impressive and very much more educational than depressing.  Well worth your time in the theater.

All day sitting and updating stuff.  A few more of the same ahead, but it will be Good when it's finished.  (She said).

Aye! --- Days 10/351 & 352

Walk: GG Pickleball, 2. Ballot Box

So Ciwt just slid her ballot through the slot of an official ballot drop box near her home.  This is the first election San Francisco has placed ballot boxes around the neighborhoods, and Ciwt really likes them.

She can vote any time, any day or night, any place around the city before 8:00 pm Election Day.  Much better for people's schedules and actually more private than standing in line and signing in... Of course, the traditional ways to vote are still available.   City Hall is still open for drop off and in person voting and all the local polling places will be open on Election Day.  This is just a new and (imho) excellent public service.
