Carmen in Faded Mauve -- Day 5/101

Walk: SF Opera House
Distance: 5 miles

Well, as a man near Ciwt said, "They didn't waste much money on the sets."  Or on the costumes: at one point, apropos Ciwt isn't entirely sure what, there was a naked man strutting around the stage (in delicately clever lighting). And at another the chorus was happily singing about women dancing and shaking their raised red skirts.  A festive image, but everyone was dressed in grunge.

That would be SF Opera's latest Carmen which Ciwt attended today.  The disconnect between the Quentin Tarantino sets and action was disconcerting, but opera is, you know, Opera! and always imparts its own special energy.
